Yesterday, we held our 9th Annual Potomac River Gala on the banks of the river. House of Sweden was the perfect setting for Potomac Riverkeeper members to celebrate the river and to recognize recent accomplishments. On May 5th, 2011, I took flight from the Cumberland Regional Airport to do an activity assessment of the permitted Marcellus Shale Gas wells in the Potomac River Basin of West Virginia. There were eight sites total to observe, but due to weather conditions and time, only 6 sites were located and observed.
My pilot, John Lawton from Ohio, flew a modified Cessna 172E. The flight took approximately 2 hours and covered 219 miles. The flight was arranged with the organization Light Hawk.
